Meet Our Pastor
I am an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International. As a child, I was raised in a preacher’s home which allowed me to be exposed to some great men of God, such as Huss Shearer, Kelton Carouthers, and T. W. Barnes. These men had a profound impact on my life.
My wife, Heather, and I served as children evangelists for many years. In this capacity, we were better known as JoJo & LuLu. We have traveled literally hundreds of miles across the United States using puppets, gospel magic, and illustrated sermons to reach kids for Christ! We preached numerous kids’ camps, children’s revivals and Holy Ghost Rallies. We have also preached many revivals for adults, in which countless souls were reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Heather and I have been residents of Springhill, LA, and members of Springhill United Pentecostal Church since 2004 while we continued to travel and evangelize. For two years we served with and assisted former pastor, D. W. Bass, here at Springhill UPC. I assumed the pastorate of the church when Pastor Bass retired on August 5, 2012, after eighteen years of service to this church and community.
My daughter and son- in-law, Jennifer & Jeff, and my first grandchild, Emma Grace, call me “Pastor” and make my wife and I proud by attending our church here at Springhill UPC.
Our son and daughter-in-law, Alec & Sara and our second and third grandchildren, Declan James and Lydian Faith, nicely round out the Story clan.
Many find it humorous that Emma, Declan and Lydian call me “Grandpuppet!”
My wife and I love the people of this church and the people of this city. Thank you for your interest in wanting to know something about us. We hope you visit soon so that we can learn something about you, as well.
God Bless You is our prayer!
Meet The Pastor’s Wife
I wasn’t raised in church, and my teenage years had a lot of emotional twists and turns. I met my husband when I was 19 years of age. His parents were instrumental in teaching me that God loved me for who I am, not who I thought I had to be. They loved me, took me to church and patiently listened to my many questions. I began attending faithfully and God saw fit to let me marry the man who had become my best friend. More than twenty-five years later, he is still that same best friend. I love God more than ever and cannot imagine where my life might have gone without that relationship.
We have two beautiful, fun-loving children. Our daughter, Jennifer, is married to Jeff, and they have given us an exceptional granddaughter, Emma, who is smart, funny, and loves her “Grandpuppet,” as she calls him. They live in Shreveport and are members of our church. Jennifer is very artsy and is a blessing to help with crafts, decorations, etc. Our son, Alec, is married to Sara, and they have two little ones, Declan and Lydian. The kids are entertaining and ensure their parents never have a dull moment. I enjoy spending time with them whenever possible. Alec and Sara serve as the Childrens’ Pastor in Lake Charles, LA. Alec continues his heritage of working with kids that he acquired from his dad and grandfather.
I was recently able to become a full-time pastor’s wife. I worked at Citizens National Bank for almost ten years and left there in January of 2014, to be able to accept the challenge of working every day with my husband. It has been worth every second, as I have been able to be more involved with the everyday interactions of the church. God has been working in our church and we have seen many prayers answered. It is a joy to be a part of a church who desires to learn more about God and the work He has for us to do!
My husband was raised in a preacher’s home and learned to trust God at a young age. He is full of faith and encourages others to be strong and believe that God can do anything. He has a dynamic way of preaching the Word of God. He believes and teaches that every word in the Bible is true and brings out those truths in our weekly Wednesday night Bible study. He is a compassionate and kind man who truly has a desire to help people. I get to call this exceptional man “husband” and “pastor.” And I know that my children and grandchildren have a strong, faithful man of God to look up to! His love for God, the church, and every member individually is something to be admired.
Consider joining us in service to see that love first hand, to hear anointed preaching from the Word, to be a part of a loving church family and last, but certainly not least, to know God in a more personal way than you have ever known Him before!
